Gretchen Sanchez Higuera

Gretchen Sanchez earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Journalism from the University of Havana, Cuba in 2016. After graduating, Gretchen specialized in TV reporting and documentary filmmaking. In 2015, she won a grant from Sparring Partners Foundation-GVC to make a documentary film about climate change impact in a coastal community of Cuba. Gretchen has been living in the United States since 2019. Since then, she has been linked to the Institute of Latin American Studies’ Cuba Program at Columbia University where she contributes to events and academic research on US-Cuba relations.
